Sports officiating is an excellent way to stay involved with a sport you love, be active, and earn extra money! Whether you were a player, parent, enthusiast, or are completely new to the sport, you can transition into a women’s lacrosse official.

New Officials

There are a few steps involved in getting going your first year, some of which carry a cost. Don’t worry! You can expect to earn all of it back by your first paycheck.

  • Join CFWLOA
    • Start by contacting us
    • No dues your first year! Then $40/year after that
  • Register as an official with USA Lacrosse: $55/year

    • Take the rules course that corresponds with the level you are intending to referee (included in the cost of your membership)
  • Attend a training (check our calendar for when the next one is)
  • Get field rated (more info on this at your training)
  • Complete your annual learning requirements from USA Lacrosse
  • Register with FHSAA: $47/year
  • Attend the rules Interpretation Meeting
  • Take USA Lacrosse and FHSAA rules exams
  • Get a JLA badge (every five years): $95

    We find the easiest way to get this done is through the Seminole County Educational Support Center, following this process:
  • Purchase uniform items: Cost varies
    • More information can be found here
  • Email SCPSFingerprintdept@SCPS.K12.FL.US with the following documents attached (all within one email):
    • A properly filled out Form 1403
    • A copy of the individual’s I-9 Form (pages 1-2)
    • A copy of your identification documents (per page 3 of I-9 requirements)
  • Fingerprinting is done at a separate location via Fieldprint: https://fieldprintflorida.com
  • Once processed you will receive an email from SCPS to pick-up your badge at SCPS main office in Sanford.
